Are you a strategic and dynamic fundraising leader with a passion for animal welfare?

We’re looking for a Head of Fundraising and Marketing to join our senior leadership team and drive sustainable income growth for our charity.

In this pivotal role, you’ll lead our talented Fundraising and Marketing team, developing innovative strategies across multiple channels – from major donors and corporate partnerships to digital campaigns and community engagement.

You'll be instrumental in shaping public perception of the charity, growing our supporter base, and ensuring our message reaches and inspires the right audiences.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading and delivering a multi-year fundraising and marketing strategy.

  • Managing and developing a high-performing team.

  • Driving income across key streams including major donors, legacies, corporate giving, and community fundraising.

  • Overseeing brand, marketing, and digital communications.

  • Building strong relationships with supporters, partners, and stakeholders.

  • Ensuring compliance, data integrity, and effective use of CRM systems.

Margaret Green Animal Rescue is Dorset’s oldest and largest animal welfare charity, with rescue and rehoming centres across Dorset and Devon.

We’re dedicated to providing the highest standards of care to unwanted, abandoned, and mistreated animals — and we’re now seeking a veterinary professional to join our Board of Trustees.

As we enter an exciting phase of strategic revitalisation, your specialist knowledge will help shape the future of our charity and ensure the animals we care for receive the very best support.

Veterinary professionals bring invaluable insight into animal welfare, health, and treatment. As a Trustee, you’ll:

  • Provide expert guidance on clinical and welfare matters

  • Help shape strategic decisions that impact animal care

  • Support governance and compliance across our operations

  • Collaborate with our Chief Executive and senior team to bridge skills gaps and maximise the impact of charitable donations

We are open to both Veterinary professionals who are currently practising or retired.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Attending Board meetings (6 per year, in Dorset/Devon) and occasional online sessions

  • Contributing 1–2 days per month to strategic planning and oversight

  • Championing best practices in animal welfare and veterinary care

  • Supporting the charity’s mission to find forever homes for animals in need

Who Should Apply

Margaret Green Animal Rescue, a well-established and respected charity dedicated to rehoming and caring for unwanted, abandoned, and mistreated animals, is seeking a Clerk to the Board of Trustees.

With centres in Dorset and Devon, the charity has been a vital part of the community for decades, offering sanctuary and second chances to animals in need.

As Clerk, you will play a key role in supporting the governance of the charity by ensuring the smooth and effective operation of the Board.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a cause that truly makes a difference.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and distribute agendas and supporting documentation for Board meetings.

  • Accurately record and produce comprehensive minutes of meetings.

  • Maintain statutory records and ensure compliance with governance requirements.

  • Provide procedural and constitutional advice to the Board.

  • Liaise with the Chair to plan the annual cycle of meetings, topics/attendees and key governance activities.

  • Support ad hoc governance tasks as required.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Clerk to a Board, preferably in the charity or education sector.

  • Excellent organisational and written communication skills.

  • Strong understanding of governance, compliance, and confidentiality.

  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines.

  • Based in Dorset, with the ability to attend six in-person meetings per year in Dorset and one in Devon, as well as virtual meetings via Microsoft Teams.

Seize a unique opportunity: become a vital part of our skilled Estates Maintenance team, supporting an animal rescue dedicated to making a difference.

Experience true variety; with three animal rescue and rehoming centres across Dorset & Devon and charity shops. Every day brings a new challenge.

We're seeking a skilled and adaptable maintenance expert. You will be based at our Church Knowle centre near Wareham in Dorset, but will sometimes be required to work between our other centres and charity shops.

With a diverse range of tasks including grounds maintenance, general repairs of the sites and accommodation, safety checks and maintaining records and shop refits, you'll need a strong background in general maintenance and a proven professional record.

This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently and manage your own work load. You will be reporting to the Church Knowle Centre Manager.

A driving license is essential.

Hours

  • Permanent, part time; 22.5 hours per week over three days. Occasional weekend cover will be required to support events or attend emergencies.

If you love the charity retail community and are a real ‘people person', then this may be the perfect role for you!

By having this new shop in a fantastic location, our aim is to raise funds for the rescue animals who need us, and to promote our work to fabulous, local supporters.

Our ideal candidate will have knowledge of managing and / or being a volunteer, and recognise the importance and value of nurturing this relationship.

You don’t necessarily need to have direct charity retail experience, although this would be an advantage, but a love of animals is a real must, as all of our 8 charity shops are proud to be dog-friendly.

This role covers 24 hours (3 days) per week on site at our charity shop in Boscombe, Bournemouth, which will be open 7 days per week.
