At Margaret Green Animal Rescue, we have an inspirational team, committed to providing the highest possible standards of animal care. We also have a number of charity shops located around Dorset, which generate income for the charity.

We are now looking to expand our Board of Trustees (currently a team of 5 trustees), strengthening the range of skills available to support the charity to achieve its objectives. We would particularly welcome applicants who are passionate about animal welfare and with relevant expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Marketing / PR (inc. digital / charity), Fundraising and Business Development, particularly in the Charity Sector
  • Finance / Treasurer background
  • Veterinary / Animal Welfare
  • A broad-based business background

We are keen to expand the diversity of our Board of Trustees, so if you think you have something to contribute to this wonderful cause, we would welcome your application.

The Board of Trustees contribute their professional expertise and provide strategic direction, as well as governing and overseeing the running of the charity. The Chief Executive and experienced senior management team run the charity, its income generation and animal rescue / welfare activities.

We meet in Dorset and Devon on a pre-planned basis six times per year and, occasionally, on an ad-hoc basis, and would prefer candidates to be based within our catchment area.

This is a key voluntary role working alongside a skilled and dedicated team within this highly respected, regional Animal Welfare charity. So, if you have a love of animals and feel you can bring that passion and energy to help us in our work, as well as your expertise, we would love to hear from you.

The role will involve helping with simple tasks, such as:

  • Mending broken fencing
  • Fixing kennel catches
  • Dealing with dripping taps
  • Other varied jobs as required

Days and times are flexible.

Volunteers will need to be 18+ years of age to undertake this role.

We have an exciting opportunity for Housekeeping & Gardening Volunteers to join our Church Knowle team, near Wareham.

This is a practical and varied role which will involve helping the team to keep the centre looking clean and tidy for our lovely rescue animals and visitors, and will include tasks such as:

  • Trimming grass, hedges and weeding

  • Tidying & cleaning our Reception area 

  • Sweeping paths 

  • Supporting the team with ad-hoc jobs across the centre 

We are looking for volunteers who would be able to help on a regular basis, between the hours of 11am - 3pm, with slots available 7 days a week. 

The role will be a great opportunity to support a local charity, work within the heart of the beautiful Devon countryside and see first-hand how you are making a difference to rescue animals in need.

Our Lincoln Farm centre in Dorset has the exciting opportunity for Work Placement students to assist our Animal Welfare staff in the kennel environment.

We have availability for block placements of 1 - 2 weeks throughout the year, with hours ranging from 7am – 3:30pm.

This varied role will involve helping with the daily care of our rescue dogs, including; cleaning of kennels and other areas, making feeds and food activity toys, exercising, bathing, basic training and of course, spending lots of time with our rescue dogs!

We are looking for students who are:

  • Enthusiastic about animal welfare
  • Reliable, trustworthy and patient
  • Happy to work in all weathers and not afraid of getting dirty
  • Able to handle dogs of all shapes and sizes

We kindly request that applicants are completing their work placement as part of their course, through a school or college.

Students will need to be 16+ years of age to undertake this role.

    We are recruiting Volunteer Van Drivers to join the Retail team at Margaret Green Animal Rescue. 

    We are looking for volunteers to help on a Wednesday or a Thursday from 9am - 4pm each week. 

    The role will involve helping with customer collections and donations and transferring stock between our six shops across Dorset. 

    It will be a fantastic opportunity to support a local charity and to make a real difference to our Retail team. 

    A full, clean driving license is essential.

    We are recruiting Volunteer Till Cashiers to join the team in our charity shop in Kinson, Bournemouth. 

    We are looking for volunteers to help for 3 hours per week on a Monday or Saturday, from 9:30am - 12:30pm or 12:30pm - 3:30pm.

    The role will involve serving customers on our easy-to-use, touchscreen till and making sure they feel welcome when visiting the shop. Raising awareness about the charity and promoting the different services we offer will also be an important part of the role, as well as working with the other staff members and volunteers in the shop to create a fun and welcoming environment. 

    We are looking for volunteers who will be:

    • Friendly and reliable
    • Willing and excited to learn new skills
    • Passionate about animals and the work we do - all of our shops are dog-friendly!
    • Happy to help and have a positive attitude

    There are several opportunities available, which will involve helping for 4 hours on a Monday each week, either from 9:00am - 1:00pm or 1:00pm - 5:00pm.

    We are looking for fun-loving volunteers who enjoy working with others as part of a team. The roles available will include assisting with a variety of tasks, such as:

    • Serving customers on our easy-to-use, touchscreen till
    • Sorting stock out the back of the shop, which may involve hanging and steaming clothing or sorting ornamental items for sale
    • Assisting with transferring stock out on to the shop floor and creating appealing displays for our customers
    • Helping to merchandise our donations to make the shop look vibrant and engaging
    • Welcoming and greeting any four-legged friends that come into the store - all of our shops are dog-friendly!

    We are looking for volunteers who are keen to learn new skills, have a can-do attitude and enjoy engaging with and greeting customers. Till experience is desirable but not essential to the role. 

    Volunteers will need to be 16+ years of age to undertake this role.
