At Margaret Green Animal Rescue, we have an inspirational team, committed to providing the highest possible standards of animal care. We also have a number of charity shops located around Dorset, which generate income for the charity.

We are now looking to expand our Board of Trustees (currently a team of 5 trustees), strengthening the range of skills available to support the charity to achieve its objectives. We would particularly welcome applicants who are passionate about animal welfare and with relevant expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Marketing / PR (inc. digital / charity), Fundraising and Business Development, particularly in the Charity Sector
  • Finance / Treasurer background
  • Veterinary / Animal Welfare
  • A broad-based business background

We are keen to expand the diversity of our Board of Trustees, so if you think you have something to contribute to this wonderful cause, we would welcome your application.

The Board of Trustees contribute their professional expertise and provide strategic direction, as well as governing and overseeing the running of the charity. The Chief Executive and experienced senior management team run the charity, its income generation and animal rescue / welfare activities.

We meet in Dorset and Devon on a pre-planned basis six times per year and, occasionally, on an ad-hoc basis, and would prefer candidates to be based within our catchment area.

This is a key voluntary role working alongside a skilled and dedicated team within this highly respected, regional Animal Welfare charity. We have an exciting opportunity available at our Wingletang centre in Devon for the position of a full-time Animal Rescue Carer.

The centre rescues and rehomes relinquished, stray and abandoned cats & dogs.

The role includes delivering the highest standards of animal welfare, training & rehabilitating the rescue cats & dogs, providing help & support to members of the public both on the phone & in person and maintaining database & paper records.

This role is physically demanding and requires spending the majority of the day on your feet.

The successful applicant should have a keen interest in animals, enjoy working outdoors, work well in a team and have a polite, professional manner. 

A qualification in Animal Care and/or experience of working with animals professionally would be desirable. 

A full current driving licence is essential.

The role will involve working 37.5 hours per week, 5 days out of 7, to include some weekend days and bank holidays on a rotational basis.

£10.50 per hour
