Laya is an adorable 11-month-old lurcher with the sweetest soul. She came into our care as an unclaimed stray, so her past is a mystery—but what we do know is that she’s ready to start her new chapter with a family who will love her as much as she deserves.

This dinky little (weighing in at around 13-14kg currently) girl thrives on human company and relishes being around people. Everything in the big wide world is still quite new to her, so she can feel overwhelmed and anxious in unfamiliar places or situations. We believe she’s had a very sheltered start in life, but she’s learning every day how exciting life can be!

Laya is making great progress with her training, including getting used to wearing a collar and walking on a lead—something she likely hadn’t experienced before. She’s a bright, eager learner who loves to please, so with patience and positive reinforcement, she’ll continue to blossom.

One of Laya’s biggest comforts is having other dogs around. She feels much more confident when she has calm, friendly canine companions to guide her and show her the ropes. For this reason, we’re looking for a home where Laya can live with at least one well-adjusted dog who will help her grow into the confident, happy youngster we know she wants to be.

Laya’s ideal family will have plenty of time to invest into her ongoing training and confidence-building. We are also looking to match her with a family where there’ll be someone around for most of the day and who can offer a calm, supportive environment for her. We think that Laya could live with children aged 10 plus.
