Calling all large breed lovers!
This handsome Mastiff X is Brian and at only 1 year old he still has some maturing to do mentally, as he is still very much finding his paws in the world.
Brian is known to staff as a big softy as he is just that! However, he often forgets the “big” part and tends to jump up to you for his affections, which we have been working on during his time with us. This is something Brian will need continuing with in his new home as being a typical adolescent, he likes to try to push the boundaries.
Since arriving we have gotten to know Brian well and although he was quite worried initially, he now is realising what fun it is to go out and make new friends. Brian can still be unsure on the first meeting and needs confidence building on areas of his handling but after seeking reassurance from his trusted human and a few tasty treats, Brian has learnt that the two legged people can be just as fun as the four legged variety. Brian now has lovely walks and cuddle time with our volunteers who he has built up a bond with and we just know that with continued training and socialisation he will make someone a wonderful companion.
Once Brian knows you, he soon becomes your new best friend, but it does mean he struggles being left, so we would like to find Brian a home where someone will be around for the majority of the day to help him overcome his anxieties, in return you will be rewarded with a rather loyal companion.
Brian would be best suited as the only dog in the home so that he can be the sole focus of his new owners, but he would enjoy having regular canine walking companions, as he loves to roll around and play with his friends at the centre. Brian may be big but he is also rather spritely too and enjoys racing around our paddock, so Brian would like a family who can take him on lots of new and fun adventures, enjoying what the world has to offer. Due to Brian's size and bull in the china shop attitude we feel he would be better in a home with teenagers who are used to large, bouncy dogs.
