Rusty's Journey
We are so grateful to you for helping us to be here for Rusty and her puppies.
In case you missed it, this beautiful, 8-year-old Labrador arrived into our care heavily pregnant last month. Following a complicated labour that required medical intervention, Rusty gave birth to nine puppies.
Sadly, just a few days later, despite our team doing everything they could, one of her puppies passed away.
Devastatingly, this is the harsh reality of animal rescue sometimes. While we mourn the loss of this sweet pup, our focus now is on making sure Rusty and her remaining babies receive everything they need to grow and thrive.
She has been the most wonderful mum, but caring for such a large litter, while recovering herself, is a huge undertaking, so we are continuing to supplement the puppies’ feeds every 2 - 3 hours.
Thanks to your kind donations and support, we can be by Rusty's side every step of the way and give her little ones the best start in life.
It has been an exhausting time for our team, who have been working around the clock to meet the needs of this very special family.
But every sleepless night and every feed has been worth it - watching them grow stronger and begin to flourish has been such a joy.
