Update to our supporters
Statement 17/03/2020 - COVID-19
To all our supporters,
I understand that there is a lot of uncertainty at the moment but I wanted to reach out to you and reassure you that we are doing everything in our power to ensure the comfort and safety of our animals during this time.
Many people are trying to ‘carry on as normal’ however we are taking the Covid-19 situation very seriously with the care and protection of our staff, volunteers, and customers. We are following advice from Government to make sure we are doing the right things and we advise you to do the same.
Centres / Shops
Our rescue and rehoming centres remain fully operational however we are closed to public visiting for the foreseeable future and will only be available for emergency rescue and adoptions. To support social distancing and to limit the number of people coming into our centres, we ask that all adoption enquiries are made over the phone and we will then schedule visits to the centres to discuss adoption and meet potential animals. Please call ahead before visiting and any appointments already booked will still go ahead.
Our charity shops for the time being will remain open and welcome your donations and purchases. We have put additional cleaning measures at both our centres and charity shops including gloves for donations, hand sanitising when entering and frequent cleaning in high traffic areas.
If you have any boarding enquires please call the centre directly and they will be able to advise.
Staff / Volunteers
Any staff or volunteers over the age of 70 and/or with underlying heath conditions are advised not to visit the centres or charity shops. Protocols on all of our sites must be followed by all staff and volunteers.
We have not received any reports of pets or other companion animals becoming sick with COVID-19, and there is no evidence that companion animals can spread COVID-19. As a precaution, we do however recommend washing your hands after being around animals.
Any future updates about our centres, charity shops and events will be on our news page on our website: https://www.margaretgreenanimalrescue.org.uk/news . Please do check this page or call the centre/shops directly if you plan to visit, all contact details can be found here:
Please do keep in mind local charities at this time as there is no doubt this will have a tremendous impact on our funds raised which in turn enable us to care for rescue animals.
I know that this is a worrying situation and I can promise you that everyone at Margaret Green Animal Rescue is doing their best to support both people and animals through this difficult time.
