Second Chance, not second best

20th Nov 2020

The cold, dark winter months are setting in. These always bring a lot of challenges to us and they are adding to what is already a very challenging time.

Can you help give rescue dogs a second chance?

We have not had the required funds to improve our lower kennels at the Wingletang Rescue and Rehoming Centre but we hope you are able to help. We have a huge £78,000 target to reach. But I am sure, like me, you want our rescue dogs to have the best possible new start in life.

Today you can be a part of something special. That’s why I am asking for your help...

Luna’s Story

Luna single

There is a story I would like to share with you, sweet Luna came into our care one Christmas, pregnant with a litter of seven, having previously given birth many times before. She was scared, cold and nervous. It was essential that we could offer her and her puppies a safe, quiet place to rest, keep warm and stay healthy. We want to be able to offer this to many more dogs that have been through trauma, like Luna. They deserve to be loved and they so desperately need your help.

The site is extremely open to the elements and we have seen some of the worst snow and rain known in the Devon area. The improvements to the lower kennels will mean that they will be better equipped to maintain warmth, which is vital for any animal and will mean they are much more cost effective to heat. It is so important that we are able to keep the rescue dogs as calm as possible. The soundproofing planned will mean we can create a calmer environment, which will hugely benefit the dogs, especially the nervous ones.

The kennels and cattery on site are some of our oldest owned buildings, the lower kennels date back to when Margaret Green herself opened the Wingletang centre over 25 years ago! We do have ambitious plans to further develop the Devon centre but only when we can afford to do so.

Whilst it would be great to invite you out to pick up a trowel and start cementing, this isn’t practical but what is possible is you being able to help with a donation.

As I sit here and write to you, there are so many uncertainties ahead of us. One thing for certain, is that by making a donation today you will give our rescue dogs a second chance.

Kindest regards,
