New Chief Executive Welcomes Mayor of Weymouth and Portland
Our new Chief Executive, Joanna Tiffin, is meeting with key partners across Dorset, as we develop a refreshed strategy that places local communities at the heart of our work.
As part of this renewed focus, Joanna welcomed the Mayor of Weymouth and Portland, Cllr David Harris, to our Weymouth charity shop on Friday 10th July.
The visit provided an opportunity to showcase the important role our Weymouth shop – along with our seven other shops – plays in raising vital funds to support its work.
It also allowed Joanna and the Mayor to discuss how the charity can strengthen partnerships with local people, businesses, organisations and community leaders to improve animal welfare and provide essential support to pet owners across Dorset.

Working alongside our Board of Trustees, Joanna is leading the development of an organisational strategy that places even greater emphasis on collaboration with local communities, ensuring Margaret Green Animal Rescue continues to meet the evolving needs of both animals and the people who care for them.

Speaking about the charity, Joanna said:
"Margaret Green Animal Rescue has always been rooted in its local communities, and that's something I'm keen to build on by developing even stronger partnerships. It's clear from our name that we care for vulnerable animals, but behind every animal is a person or family who may also need support.
"By working alongside local authorities, charities and other organisations to support both people and animals in times of crisis, we can improve animal welfare while creating lasting benefits for individuals, families and the wider community.
"I'm looking forward to meeting people across the region, sharing our vision and exploring how we can work together to have an even greater impact on both people and animals."
Mayor of Weymouth and Portland, Cllr David Harris, said:
"It was a privilege to pay a visit to the Maragaret Green Animal Rescue charity shop, and to meet with Joanna Tiffin, who has recently taken up the role of Chief Executive.
"The charity does such wonderful and vital work to improve the welfare of animals, as well as working with, and providing support to the individuals who own and care for them.
"Weymouth has a thriving community, and we are proud to have one of the Margaret Green Animal Rescue charity shops in our high street. By working together, we can strengthen connections, build solid partnerships, and support both animals and people during their time of need."

We operate eight charity shops across Dorset, with every purchase and donation helping to fund the care and welfare of the animals we support.
Alongside a Manager and Assistant Manager, our shops are run by a dedicated team of volunteers who give up their time to help the charity’s mission.
