Become an Animal Sponsor
Just £5 a month!
By becoming an Animal Sponsor you will be helping our horses, donkeys, goats, cats, sheep and pigs - you choose the species and will pick the animal for you. All our sponsor animals are at our Church Knowle Rehoming and Visitor Centre and so you can visit them too during the centre's opening times - click here for details
Horses - Mickey & Donald
Mickey and Donald are a pair of friendly Shetland ponies who came to the centre in 2009. Mickey (the black one) has no front teeth so, takes a while to eat his hay - we have to watch that Donald doesn't try to pinch it! They can often be found in their stable on the yard eagerly awaiting a visitor to come by or in their field chasing their treat balls, which are filled with hard feed. Your donation of £5 can go towards paying for their hooves to be trimmed.
Donkeys - Sid & Jake
To enjoy a video of this cheeky pair click on their photo
You'll often hear Sid and Jake before you see them, as they bray to remind visitors to come and say hello. They came to the centre in 2012 and are a cheeky pair for sure. You will often see Jake (the one on the right in the photo above) wearing some sporty socks as he suffers from a skin condition, these help keep the irritation at bay.
Goats - Barney
Barney is a male Saanen goat who absolutely loves Brussel sprouts (in moderation, of course) and carrot ice lollies. This loveable goat will come up to the fence to say an inquisitive hello and will pose for a photo or two! Your donation of £5 could go towards buying his hard feed.
Pig - Thelma
Thelma is a very friendly Kunekune pig who has been at the centre since 2010 after coming in as a stray. She is a real conversationalist and tends to follow her carers around just like a shadow! Her favourite things are spending time in her wallow or snoring away the day in her comfy bed.
Cats - Eliza
Eliza is a feral cat who has made her home at Church Knowle. Although she came in as a stray, life in the cattery was not for her so it was a more rural life she chose and now happily keeps an eye on all the other animals. She particularly loves giving presents to the rescue cats, especially the good looking ones!
Sheep - Prince Philip
As an orphan Prince Philip came to Church Knowle on HM the Queen's Diamond Jubilee hence his name. He now happily lives with his friend Bilbo and they never miss an opportunity to pose for a photo.
