Finding Forever Homes

Prizes All Round at Companion Dog Show

WT Dog Show - 8.6.14. (267)Thursday 12th June 2014

Visitors and dogs entered pedigree and novelty classes, browsed the stalls, entered the raffle and tucked into something delicious from the barbeque.

This was the 20th annual dog show, organised by our centre managers Alan and Niki Ging who have been running Wingletang since 1994. Alan said ‘we’ve had a very good turnout and a lovely day has been had by all.’

In between classes Jeff, who was broadcasting class times and notices live at the event, had to take a break from the microphone to collect his Volunteer of the Year Award from Alan. This prestigious award recognises volunteers who have made huge contributions to the work of the charity and was given to Jeff and Sheryl Boxall who have been helping at Wingletang for 18 years. Jeff said ‘we are pleased and honoured to have the award. We have had two dogs from here!’

IMG 1175The weather turned against visitors during the afternoon but it didn’t put us off and classes carried on as scheduled. At the end of the day, fourteen year old Border Collie Maisie was awarded Best in Show in the novelty classes. Her owner Chris Staniland said ‘we have had a brilliant day, we always come but this is the first year we have won best in show!’

Thank you so much to everyone who supported the event. Special thanks must also go to our brilliant sponsors,  TyreMarks, Mike Claire Textiles, Posh Paddocks, Brian C. Credicott, Ron’s Pet Supplies, Westmoor Veterinary Hospital, Mr and Mrs Devereux, Carol Valvona, Bona Fido Dog Training and Pet Behaviour, Charlie Fisher and Marc Lawton and Tavistock Hire Centre.
