What a week that was!
For 2017 we turned Margaret Green Day into a whole week of celebrations and fundraising turning Devon and Dorset Green.
The main event was on Saturday 20th when Lincoln Farm Rescue and Rehoming Centre held their first ever GroundDog Day, a celebration of rehoming. This followed a packed week of fundraising, fun and amazingly generous donations from the 15th May.
We were thrilled with all the exciting ideas that were used to help raise funds, which included match the owner with their pet, cake sales, green clothes, green shoes, and even green hair. There were knitted trees and flowers, wonderful window displays and so much more, not forgetting all those purrfectly fabulous animal onesies.
The animals at Church Knowle Visitor and Rehoming Centre got in on the act too, having selfies with commercial team members Donna and Jazmin.
The celebration, which has previously been celebrated just on May 20th, the birthday of MGAR founder Margaret Green, was extended to a full week due to the success in previous years and to encourage even more people to join in the fun.
We wanted to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who supported us, which includes:
St Martins School in Bournemouth, Specsavers in Tavistock, Pets At Home in Dorchester, Westmoor Veterinary Hospital, the Sandringham Court Knit and Natter Group, Ashley's Barber Shop in Blandford, Insure4retirement in Bournemouth, all at our Winton Charity Shop and of course The Co Operative in Crossways who had a whole month of celebrating MGAR.
Jazmin House Community Fundraising Assistant said "We were so thrilled at the amount of people who were able to take part during the week, and are still getting donations coming in, we would like to thank everyone involved. The week went so well, we are going to do it all over again next year, so save the date, it's going to be bigger and better than ever!
The next Margaret Green Week is Monday 14th May to Sunday 20th May 2018, we've got lots of ideas to help you raise money, so do get in touch, we'd love to hear from you."
