Finding Forever Homes

Local volunteers and charity recognised in generous donation

Lorraine & Geoff Hodder from The Ellingham & Ringwood Agriculture Society (ERAS) committee recently visited Margaret Green Animal Rescue’s (MGAR) Dog Rehoming centre at Lincoln Farm near Bere Regis to present a cheque for £500 as one of a number of charitable awards made by the Society, following another successful Ellingham Show on 12th August this year. Loraine Hodder, the show’s Dog Section Secretary, who organises the ‘just for fun’ classes of the Dog Show, Dog Agility and Gun Dog Scurry at the Ellingham Show and her husband Geoff, ERAS Health and Safety Officer were joined by Michelle Jones, the Senior Animal Welfare Officer (Christchurch Borough Council and East Dorset District Council), who were keen to support the ongoing work of Margaret Green Animal Rescue.

Loraine commented “The Society is pleased to make this donation to such a worthwhile charity. It also reflects our appreciation to our many volunteers, like Michelle Jones, who help to make it possible to hold such a successful show each year”. Accompanying Loraine at the presentation was her husband, Geoff Hodder, the ERAS Health and Safety Officer.

Helen Chittock, Lincoln Farm Centre Manager on accepting the donation, said that “the money would be put towards improving the walking fields on site by the planting of trees to provide shade enabling the dogs to spend longer out of kennels, as well as picnic tables for the staff and volunteer walkers to use”.

Geoff Wright, Chief Executive said “We receive no Government funding and rely heavily on the donations we receive, all the money raised goes towards the care and welfare of over 1200 animals we care for each year at our centres.  I would like to say a personal thank you to Loraine, Geoff & Michelle, we really could not do the work we do without our supporters”.
