When the tree was first ‘yarn bombed’ we suggested the Malay proverb – a tree with strong roots, laughs at storms, well it certainly saw all sorts of weather in its first year, so our MGAR proverb, the tree that has been yarn bombed never feels the cold, was definitely true with the snow and all that rain we had to contend with this year.
Originally the brainchild of regular volunteers Jan and Dave Green, the Kniffiti tree has proved a huge hit with visitors and staff. Over the year it did start to look a little tired due to the extremes of weather, and Jan and Dave offered a much needed revamp, Claire Tice, another of our keen volunteers, came up with the idea of crocheting some flowers to enhance its appeal, her mum also got knitting to make some too!
We think the results are amazing, and can be seen here with Jan having carefully stitched the flowers on. We’re sure you’ll agree that the result really does add to the blossoming beauty of the tree.
Come along to Church Knowle Rehoming and Visitor centre to see the Kniffiti tree dressed in all its glory. The centre is open every day between 10:00 and 16:00, entry is free to the Visitor Centre, although a donation is always welcome.
