Are you ready to welcome a rambunctious fun loving 5-month-old German Shepherd puppy to your family? If so then please meet young Retro who is ready make sure there is a never dull moment and will bring a dose of cheekiness and cheer to daily family life.

This young lad seems to be growing every day, so we are looking to match him with a family who are ready to welcome a larger breed into their home and who have fully researched the needs of his breed. Retro is very keen to learn, but in typical puppy fashion his attention span can be quite short, so small training sessions throughout the day are going to be the key to making sure he becomes the best version of himself as he learns about the world around him. A family who has lots of time to invest into his training and would be eager to take him to training classes and be patient, kind and consistent with him would be absolutely ideal.

Retro would benefit from someone being at home with him for most of the day, at least initially, so that he can settle into his new home and gradually learn to feel comfortable being left home alone for short periods of time. We think that the best fit for him would be a family with older children (aged 10 and upwards) who are comfortable around larger exuberant dogs as Retro can easily become over-excited. Similarly, we think Retro would be happy to live with another dog but it’d be hugely beneficial if the other dog(s) would be happy to show him the ropes and encourage him to settle as well as acting as a friendly play mate. We’d also be open to him being the only dog in the home and think he could potentially live with a cat so long as his new family were willing to put work into introducing everyone and the cat has happily lived with large excitable dogs previously.

As he is still growing Retro will need to have his exercise slowly increased to give his joints and muscles time to fully develop, and integrating brain games and scent work into his daily routine will give him an outlet for his energy alongside his training.
